What to Expect After Your Facial Filler Treatment

The desire for a youthful appearance isn’t just a modern want. With the advent of modern aesthetic medicine, the quest for more youthful skin is easier than ever before. One of the most popular treatments for recalibrating the skin is known as facial filler treatment.

Once you’ve set up your filler appointment, you’ll mostly sit back and relax because the doctor will do most of the work. You’ll have to wait for some time for the procedure to work, but once it does, you’ll be amazed at the results.

What other things can you expect after your facial filler procedure? Keep reading to find out and ensure you get the most out of your process.

Minor Itching

The minor itching that may occur after a facial filling is regular and should subside within a day or two. In the meantime, you can try using a cool compress to soothe the itch. You should contact your doctor if the irritation persists or becomes more severe.

Swelling on the Treated Area

After you’ve had your facial filler treatment, it’s normal to have some swelling on the treated area. The swelling should go down within a few days. To help with the swelling, try sleeping with your head elevated and apply cold compresses to the area for a few minutes.

If you have any pain, your doctor may prescribe pain medication. You should avoid strenuous activity and exposure to sunlight for a few days. Make sure to follow your doctor’s instructions and call if you have any questions or concerns.

Slight Bruising

Most people experience slight bruising after their facial filling. This is normal and should subside within a few days.

If you are concerned about bruising, you can take Arnica Montana pills or apply Arnica gel to the area. You should also avoid drinking alcohol or taking blood thinners such as aspirin for at least 24 hours after your treatment.

Bouts of Minimal Numbness

After having a facial filler treatment, it is not uncommon to experience numbness in the treated area. This is due to the needle used during injection, which can cause temporary nerve damage. The numbness should go away within a few hours to a day.

Slight Facial Tenderness

Facial fillers can help to plump up the skin and restore some of its elasticity. Still, it’s not uncommon for patients to experience a bit of tightness or firmness around the injection site, even with the best facial filler. This usually disappears within a few days as the filler settles into place.

If you are planning to add some more procedures to help you improve your look, consider a rhinoplasty by Dr. Engineer to pair with your filler treatment.

How Can I Prepare for My Facial Filler Treatment?

Facial filler treatments can help improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss in the face. They can also help to create a more youthful appearance. If you are interested in exploring these treatments, talk to a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn more affordable facial filler prices and alternatives.

Assuming you’re happy with the results of your facial filler treatment, no expensive aftercare is required. You can resume all normal activities and skincare routines. Be sure to follow up with your injector for any touch-ups or concerns.
